Walkabout - when a branding shoot isn’t a branding shoot!
Jonathan Howkins has several strings to his bow and with a couple his personal brand is key. He mentors, trains and presents on business and marketing alongside running his own successful online guitar learning videos. Each area is different, so Jonathan needed photos of himself which could cross pollinate, presenting himself generically but with a style.
So, Branding Photos
Branding Photoshoots are specific. Usually the aim is to create a set of photos which craft images giving a strong sense of who and what you are and do; photos which sit across your website and media as visual anchors, embedding a repeated impression on your audience. Sometimes though, you need more…
Well, Welcome to a Walkabout
Walkabout can be anything you need it to be without any constraints to conform to your brand. A Walkabout Photoshoot can be a simple meeting at a location for a few portraits or a full day, even multiple days, crafting all manner of narrative photos, lifestyle images: generic, ambiguous, zany, specific, on message, off message…whatever you need.
The underlying purpose is to give you a range of photos that you can use in your marketing, but don’t necessarily sit as your main Branding Photos. They might appear in Blog posts, Newsletters, PR releases, LinkedIN articles, adverts but not on your website. They are your stock photos.
For Jonathan, we met in Weybridge and chose a few locations which were distincly different and aimed to craft portraits which captured a different feel and style. The uses for the photos were sketched out but still vague so we could shoot without too tight a brief and just aim for a relaxed morning, having some fun.
How would you see a Walkabout for your business, personality and marketing?
